Campus Closures and Submission Delay

I always wished if there's an alternative online system that could be used for such cases, so no delays will be caused for any parties, for example: interviews can be done online by video conferencing !
For WBL students they can:
+ Submit their work online as the adviser/admission knew all our emails, so our work can be checked by the date and time that has been sent to the admission. No hard copies needed anymore!
+ No other emails can be used without an authorization from the student and the adviser
+ Forms can be filled, signed and submitted online by email too ( by typing in Microsoft word and insert the signature as a scanned picture).
+ Digital/Hard copies can be requested from the student when needed, or only for back up when any system failure or data loss happened.
As soon as the admission get the digital copies from the adviser, they can print it or keep the hard copies.

That's my opinion as a student and I know that it won't be taken seriously ( at least now) but I think it would be better in future.

My Teachers

It has paid considerable attention to teachers for their being the first brick in the structure of social development and perfection and the cause of guiding and developing behaviors and mentalities of individuals and communities.
Teachers are the good exemplars to whom the pupils refer inadvertently. Because they teach not only the lessons, but also make a profound difference in the lives of students and are the single most important school-related influence on student achievement.
I've had more than one great teacher in my life that I’m really influenced from through all my educational life. I appreciated the ones who were serious and passionate about their subjects.
Greg Haynes and Geoff Cruickshank were my favorite teachers who work in design genres and taught me Graphics & Multimedia Design at Barnet College.
The influence of the profession quality they instilled was immeasurable in the last two years. They were dedicated, motivated, patient, thoughtful, disciplined and vibrant to their noble career. Above all, they have a passion to have positive impact on young people’s lives by assisting them to be better in the future.
I don’t really know who taught or influenced them, but I think they were great enough to have an impact on their lives to be there in mine.
They really made such a tremendous impact in my life by encouraging me with their guidance to improve and develop my skills in my own way to meet the standards of today’s professional designer.

Also, by representing all design aspects and strategies, the manual (hand-operated) and digital processes that used for production in the design industries.  That involves with typography, interface & interactive design, multimedia development, web promotion, image manipulation & exploration, design application and industrial practice. It really helped me to shape the path that I want to achieve in my future.
Multimedia design is one of the hottest businesses nowadays. As an experienced freelancer multimedia designer, I think my job is in a great demand in the market, such as web design and development, 3D modeling, 2D animation, filming, postproduction, illustration as well as audio production.
Throughout demonstrating professional techniques, I’ve learned production procedures for multimedia development, including traditional video, streaming, editing and recording, flash interactivity and database-driven web multimedia. Along with storyboarding to nonlinear editing; to plan and manage collaborative multimedia projects; to master software genres commonly used for multimedia training program in education and industry.

During focus on the fundamentals of developing digital multimedia using a range of software, hardware, and electronic equipments such as video cameras, I’ve learned to apply these into my own practical experience in my projects.

One of the things that I’ve learned was to keep my work safe by arranging a regular system backup to another local disk. Losing important data or files were rarely happen after we have been introduced using backup utilities to keep important data secure from any system failure or ad-ware and unexpected errors.
Moreover, I made full use of the adjustment facilities for my VDU and work environment to get the best from them and avoid potential health problems.

Health and safety acts were covered these things during lessons. I carried on this habit to my workstation at home or in the workplace. For example; I adjusted my keyboard and screen to get a good keying and viewing position and used the space in front of the keyboard in sometimes helpful for resting the hands and wrists while not keying.

A simple specification personal PC was used to work on at home with Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system. Big tasks couldn’t be done easily, so my teacher recommended buying Mac based system, which is the most advanced and powerful operating system. Its got organization, editing and output options all neatly wrapped up in one package. It really helped me get acquainted with a digital workflow and achieved many client’s briefs at home. On the other hand, the teacher showed us many types of equipment that will help us perform other tasks professionally. That included A3 printer, a graphic tablet and some other tools like light box, stencils, sketchbooks, tracing papers, paints, markers, scalpel and cutting matt.
Exhibitions, museums, art related festivals and the school or Art events, out-of-hours classes or even workshops were part of our education as they were always in our student schedules.  These open opportunities helped me articulate my self-expression and expand my experience. As well as giving attention to many different concepts, habits, tools, and skills that lead to more reflective practice.

“Under Construction” was our theme for the last year exhibition that held at Free Range, at the Old Truman Brewery, which is the Europe's largest graduate art and design show. It was to showcase the work to both public and potential employers alike, giving us the best opportunity to promote our work to many design companies.
As a professional practitioner, it supported me to improve my individual and group working style and use this information to be productive in work.

Professional prejudice continues to need exposure, discussion, and reflection in order to get these issues out in the open so they can be addressed. Greater understanding and tolerance might be the result. If a company won’t consider my experience and qualifications without any given reasons, then I think they don’t deserve me as an employee. As a professional, knowledge about the individuals and their experiences is much better than manifest in ethnic, racial gender, age, disability, political and religious beliefs. Besides that, I think everyone has the right to work and be a helpful part in the country.

The advantages that I have gained in the last two years in general were so useful to me to learn many things about multimedia design and became more advanced in using design application and tools that led me directly to professional world.

A friend's Blog needs 2be Followed by the Others

He wrote his drafts and needed the others to comment and follow his blog.. click on this link  and press the "follow" button..
He also suggested to use social media online networks to get us all connected. I think Facebook is what we all need. If we create a group page in Facebook to connect us all, it will be useful in certain ways. The last two years, we used to share and track our college group online. We found it extremely helpful when we had our exhibition last summer.
Also the tremendous percentage growth for Facebook users estimates that Facebook visits were up 127%
It can also be used as a highly effective business tool. It’s great for marketing your products and connecting with your customers and friends.  When I read others blog in the first task we had, I noticed that many of us are using  Facebook.

So, here I'm listing some reasons that I think why we should use Facebook academically :

1/ be informed individually
2/ notified by email
3/ create a group /events and send invitations (see who is going and who is not)+ approve the people who is going to join the group
3/ post links, pictures, video and comments
4/ track others blog posts and comments (by adding an extra application to our profile)
5/ use our mobile devices to login, (e.g. blackberry, iphone..etc) to check them, many mobile devices has Facebook application, so no need for computers to log in ( or wait for internet connection to come back or even go through advanced technical trouble shooting--->for those who couldn't catch up with others because of that)
6/ connect other online application/websites: youtube/twitter/blogger/myspace/vimeo...etc so we can share mini feeds, links, status ...etc
7/ customize your privacy, and add the people you know, chat with them and be updated with their live feeds and news, e.g: blog posts. pics, links, notes, ...etc (social interaction)
8/ record video online and it will be helpful to have the lectures or session workshops online for overseas students (Distance learning students).

Writing Styles: draft 3:

Four Seasons Paintings

Last summer, I planned with one of my best friend who is interested in arts to pay a visit to an artist exhibition held in Oxford Street.
That day was full of joy as it was warm as my friend’s heart. We had lunch at one of the Australian restaurants near to the exhibition place. As the time came, people started to crowd noticeably at the exhibition entrance, flyers got handed to visitors as drinks.
Once I got my feet into the front door, I smelled a vintage fragrance that can’t be reached to its end.  Somehow, I felt lost and my nose couldn’t get enough so I followed the scent. The smooth classical music that was played at the background added another great lighter atmosphere.
I rolled my eyes unconsciously to find out who was around me and then I felt completely lost. Subconsciously, I left my friend’s right hand that I was holding through my way to here and my feet ended up standing at the front of four-seasoned paintings that made me forget completely about everything around.
Even though the fragrance was still passing through, it felt like as if the person was just beside me. All myself was driven speechlessly towards the mood of the four paintings.
My eyes didn’t wink for a minute, as if it was there a long filmstrip correlated with the paintings and flashed expeditiously at the front of my eyes.

They were painted expressively, the range of colors, which mixed either gradually or instantly engaged me more into them. The four paintings were combined by one concept, which was a view from an empty room’s window to a tree on the hill surrounded by many flowers.
Each piece I saw affected me in some sort of way, that made me feel stunned, calm, sad, happy and bright.
At that moment, the expression gave my impassioned heart the green light to echo deep inside, I felt I was only the one who was standing and staring with attraction there.
The first cloudless, clear and sunny view was enough to fill me with cheerful feelings. The colors were extremely bright, that made me think for a minute that the place was near the sun or heaven. My throat felt waterless and thirsty, I could tell that the weather seemed in a very high temperature. The tree tinted with lime green blooming color, the strong red roses looked like hot kisses that were spread around going to explode. The glowing window frame seemed that it has been glazed with golden color. In some way, the general feeling stated the pleasant feelings and gathered all the happy moments just in one smile that has been drawn in my face.

My face expression changed as soon as I moved to the next painting.
The dry yellowish falling leaves from the tree flowed with my birthday memories in October; it has been as an alarm of the end of many things in the year. The colors have been spectacular between the red, yellow, orange and brown and all the hues in-between.
The glowing orange sky that kept the green leaves fading made me feel that the days grew shorter, and the temperatures cooler.

Then, suddenly I felt cold, as soon as I focused my eyes on the third cloudy and dusky painting. The snap of wintry weather left the tree bare and looked so defenseless against the harsh wind, but there was still an amazing blaze of dark colors.
Morbidly, The dreary grass looked as if it was swaying, dancing lowly under the tree.
Momentarily, I winced as I imagined myself standing like the tree with the wind piercing into my face, the coldness seeping through every leakage in my layered clothing.
The large raindrops looked like sparkles on the window from inside view, as it was splattering against the glass. I just fantasized the howling through the thick window panels that would shield me from the outside horrible cold. I recalled the indescribable warm feelings whilst sitting behind the window by the heater, sipping hot tea.

The voice of my friend was loud enough to wake me up from my state of amazement. As my body was responding to her call, I turned my head to the last vibrant painting. The green leaves looked fresh and started to grow, the tree had fructified and flowers began to sprout. It just reminded me of how the birds used to whistle in their silvery voices. The artwork was blended with kaleidoscope of colors.

The more I walked towards my friend, the more that aromatic fragrant increased. It reminded me of the last painting I just saw.  I was astonished that the smell was smoothly drifting from the man who was waving his hand at me and standing next to my friend. He was the artist who exhibited today and painted the 4 masterpieces. We gratified his deep passion of creativity in a positive manner and took a photograph with him. It was an unforgettable day.
